For over 75 years, the Palestinian people have lived under occupation, forced displacement, and settler colonization. This reality has dramatically worsened with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, recognized as such by a majority of international law experts and currently the subject of proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
Quebec has a rich history of supporting the Palestinian people, but today, it cannot claim to uphold human rights and international law while maintaining economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties with a state accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice.
We are asking candidates in the provincial elections to commit, once elected, to:
Implement the necessary measures to ensure that the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) divests not only from Israeli companies, but also from any company complicit in the ongoing genocide or profiting from it, including arms, surveillance technology, and extraction companies operating in occupied territory.
Close the Quebec office in Tel Aviv, whose existence normalizes economic, diplomatic, cultural, and research relations with an entity accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice.
Support the implementation of a bilateral arms embargo with Israel, using the mechanisms at their disposal to ensure that Quebec companies and infrastructure are not used to facilitate the shipment of weapons or weapon components to Israel, either directly or via the United States.
Extend RAMQ coverage to Gaza residents, explicitly including individuals holding the temporary residence visa with the code MOME2023, issued by the federal government, under the Quebec Health Insurance Plan, on the same basis as any other person who has fled the war since 2023.
